Specializing in design-build services for commercial clients, they manage a diverse portfolio of exterior (parking upgrades, EV charger installations) and interior (retrofits, tenant improvements, move-ins/move-outs) projects.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in overseeing construction projects, managing on-site operations, and ensuring quality and safety compliance. The company is experiencing significant growth and seeks a skilled Superintendent to coordinate diverse improvements, from EV charger installations to tenant retrofits, while traveling as needed to keep projects on track.

Location: Preferably reside in Southern CA – Traveling position.
Job Summary:
The Superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects, encompassing both exterior improvements. This includes overseeing projects such as parking lot upgrades, electric vehicle (EV) charger installations. Reporting directly to the Director of Construction, this position is responsible for the seamless coordination of on-site activities, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring that all work adheres to project specifications, timelines, and safety regulations. The Superintendent will be required to travel to projects both in Southern California and out of town as necessary. This may require being out of town for weeks at a time.

- Coordinate Construction Processes: Develop and oversee schedules for design and construction phases, ensuring that all tasks are efficiently organized and executed.
- Manage Resources & Logistics: Oversee the allocation of personnel, materials, equipment, budgets, and contracts while maintaining a keen focus on optimizing resources and minimizing delays.
- Ensure Compliance & Quality Control: Verify that all construction activities align with engineering and architectural drawings, local building codes, and industry best practices.
- Engage & Direct Trade Contractors: Arrange for specialized trade contractors to execute various phases of construction, ensuring their work integrates seamlessly into the overall project.
- Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to facilitate smooth communication and address any construction challenges proactively.
- Monitor Safety & Performance Standards: Enforce safety protocols to protect workers and the public, ensuring that all site operations adhere to OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Oversee Material & Equipment Usage: Track the delivery, utilization, and maintenance of materials, tools, and machinery to maintain project efficiency and avoid disruptions.
- Conduct Progress Assessments: Review engineering and architectural drawings regularly, monitoring work progress to ensure adherence to project timelines and compliance with design specifications.
- Daily Site Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed daily logs that document labor requirements, material deliveries, machinery usage, and any project challenges or milestones.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, and SKILL/KNOWLEDGE
- Requires eight (8)+ years of relevant construction experience, including at least four(4) years of experience supervising construction projects or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in Construction Science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.
- The ideal candidate should have significant field experience with concrete flatwork.
- Strong technical expertise in construction methodologies, materials, and industry regulations, with a solid understanding of building science, project management, and business operations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting contracts, blueprints, and technical specifications to ensure accurate execution of construction plans.
- Experience with construction management software for job costing, scheduling, online collaboration, and estimating.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability when faced with unexpected project challenges.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure, to resolve unforeseen delays or construction obstacles.
- Exceptional coordination skills to oversee multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring efficient workflow and resource allocation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster collaboration among project owners, managers, designers, inspectors, trade workers, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in reviewing and understanding engineering, architectural, and construction drawings to maintain alignment with project goals.

- Extending arms and reaching overhead to review plans, measure distances, or check installation work.
- Fine motor skills are required for handling tools, technology (tablets, laptops), and small components.

- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind).
- Working around heavy machinery, vehicles, and power tools, necessitating proper PPE. Exposure to loud noise levels from construction machinery, requiring hearing protection.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and airborne particles from asphalt, concrete, or construction materials.
